In Cebu, the election period is a language situation that reflects the widespread distribution and contextualized use of language through political ads. These political ads are considered as examples of a linguistic landscape of a place. This study used descriptive research and was anchored to the notion of Landry and Bourhis’ binary approach in examining linguistic landscapes. The study aims to examine the linguistic and scape of Cebu during the election on May 2019 based on the following aspects –language space, language dominance and political representations that they exhibit. Based on the findings, linguistic landscape is an effective tool for language dissemination and distribution. In addition, the use of bilingual and multilingual languages in political ads simply mean that the Province of Cebu is embracing multilingualism and globalization while using the Cebuano language is a proof of the appreciation of the people in Cebu in their local language. On the other hand, the written language in the linguistic landscapes represent the resonating call for action on issues encountered by the linguistic community. The contextualized studies in linguistic landscapes can greatly contribute in assessing the condition of the language and in promoting the local language enrichment of a linguistic community.
