Dilang Hiram Mga Salitang Español na Naiba ang Kahulugan sa Tagalog at Sugbuanong Binisaya

The main purpose of this study is to examine the interpretation of the borrowed words from Spanish that changed its meaning in some selected editorials that written in Tagalog: the Pilipino Star Ngayon and Bandera News while Super Balita at Banat News for Cebuano-Visayan. Qualitative method was used to analyze and develop a dictionary for selected Spanish words that changed its meaning. The study aimed to answer the following: Newspapers that used loanwords in Spanish, Total number of the loanwords in Spanish, and borrowed words from Spanish that has changed meaning. It was ascertained in the analysis that Bandera News used loanwords from Spanish content word than the rest. Tagalog newspaper used the most loanword from Spanish than Cebuano-Visayan newspaper. In 28 editorials, it contains 841 Spanish loanwords and thirteen (13) of these have changed their meaning: Six words from of Tagalog language and seven (7) from Cebuano-Visayan language. Based on the findings, it was proven that the four (4) newspapers involved in the study freely used loanwords from Spanish with different interpretations in Tagalog and Cebuano-Visayan language.
