Abstract – This study examined the career planning and professional development of teachers in Chinese vocational colleges to inform a development plan. It assessed teachers’ self-assessment, career goals, and work satisfaction, as well as their professional development practices. Data from 385 teachers were analyzed using descriptive, ANOVA, and regression analyses. Results indicate a positive relationship between professional development and work performance. Teacher characteristics (sex, age, education, experience) varied significantly, suggesting tailored development programs are needed. The study addresses a research gap by focusing on vocational college teachers, providing insights for policymakers to enhance teacher satisfaction and performance. An action plan is proposed to improve career development for vocational educators.
